Bull Elk Bugling
Join Cataloochee Valley Tours on a guided Eco-tour to one of the best kept secrets in the Great Smoky Mountains -- Cataloochee Valley! See the elk on our guided Evening Elk Eco-Tour or a Sunrise Elk Eco-Tour, offered year round weather permitting. Join us in June as we journey to our "secret" location to witness the magic of the Synchronous & Blue Ghost Fireflies on a Firefly Night Walk.
Travel back in time to one of the most beautiful and remote parts of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Cataloochee Valley...where the big elk roam and the black bears play! You will be transported luxuriously in one of our eco-friendly Cadillac Escalade Hybrid tour vehicles over the rugged, winding mountain road once called the “Cataloochee Turnpike.”
Cataloochee Valley is steeped in history, laced with abundant wildflowers and rich with wildlife including elk, white-tailed deer, black bears, salamanders and many species of birds like cedar waxwings, indigo buntings, wild turkeys and ruffed grouse. Retreat with us into the back of beyond to an ancient land mass with amazing biodiversity.
Cataloochee Valley is one of those special places that is not easy to get to, but hard to forget. If you want to venture there, go with Cataloochee Valley Tours.
Elk were once native to much of North America, including North Carolina. The last know elk in North Carolina was killed off in 1790. In 2001, the National Park Service reintroduced elk to Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
We do not have a store front. Pick up locations are determined upon tour reservation. We operate out of Waynesville, Maggie Valley and Lake Junaluska, North Carolina. The closest airport is in Asheville, North Carolina, Asheville Regional Airport.
